Tour de France 2004. 18 Etappe. Lance Armstrong macht sich persönlich auf die Verfolgung einer Ausreissergruppe und lässt sich nicht locker, bis Filippo Simeoni sich zurückfallen lässt. Simeoni verdiene es nicht, eine Etappe zu gewinnen, so Armstrongs Erklärung.
Simeoni war zu diesem Zeitpunkt Zeuge der Anklage gegen Dr.Ferrari. Armstrong selber war Klient von Ferrari. Er gab dies erst zu, nachdem Recherchen der Sunday Times es enthüllt hatten.
