Difficult to say. Looks like you are more concentrated the second time and looked ahead at the ground/path before looking at the map and thus can read the map without trouble for a longer stretch. But it could be anything :)
There is one big difference:
In the first video the runner looks at the map just one second before taking a right turn past the camera, while in the second one he reads the map earlier and has time to decide to go left in the same spot, presumably a path junction we can't see on-screen.
No clue...
The first runner didn't hold his map north-oriented while running, he must first turn it right which causes a delay in reading. The second runner hold the map perfectly oriented and can read the map just in time to take the right path.
