Nicht vorbereitet

Inför VM bestämde jag mig att jag inte skulle ägna någon tid åt teoretiska förberedelser med gamla kartor. Jag la bara en bana på en del av VM final-kartan i vintras men under de senaste månaderna gjorde jag ingenting förutom kort diskussion med andra i landslaget på kvällen innan loppet. Anledningen till att jag inte la ner tiden var att jag ville testa nåt annat, behålla flexibilitet, spara mina mentala krafter och också trodde jag att jag skulle klara av att bestämma mig rätt ändå, med den rutinen jag har. Nu ångrar jag mig lite att jag inte satt med den gamla kartan och la många vägvalsträckor som jag brukade göra inför tidigare VM, det kanske hade gett mig mer självförtroende inför loppet.

We thought that the start would be were it was. Also the long route choices we discussed them in the team, so there were no big surprises. But anyway, you have to be free in your opinion when being on the start.

Wahrscheinlich auch nicht vorbereitet waren Valentin Novikov und Audun Weltzien im Mittel Final der Männer.

To the 14th control quite a few runners lost seconds by going to the left of the forbidden area, it was maybe one of the most decisive on the whole course. When preparing for the race I looked at the area close to the arena on the long distance map. I looked for possible ways of entering the arena and figured out that the road trough the forbidden area probably would be used. In high speed and pressure it could maybe be difficult to see this road, but as I knew about it on beforehand I had no problems finding it either on the map or in the terrain.
